Why You Need Beta-Sitosterol:
Beta Sitosterol is derived from a plant chemical called phytosterol that is found in all the vegetables we eat. While we intake some every day, you do not get nearly enough in your diet.
Research attaches many benefits to beta-sitosterol, including supporting prostate health and maintaining a healthy cholesterol level.
Beta Sitosterol Helps Prostate Problems
Europeans have long used beta-sitosterol for prostate problems, and it is now growing popular among American men. Promising results from research are published regularly. A Lancet study found that men with BPH who were given beta-sitosterol daily for six months showed significant improvement in urinary difficulties. Those given a placebo reported no relief.
In 1999, a review of four clinical trials involving 519 men with mild to moderate BPH showed that beta-sitosterol provided increased relief from urinary issues. It also helped to increase urine flow and caused almost no side effects. Most interestingly though, benefits matched those most commonly seen with prescription BPH drugs.
Research Shows Beta Sitosterol Improves Cholesterol Levels
Research conducted over the past 30 years has also shown that beta-sitosterol has positive effects on both triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Dietary supplementation has been shown to help both the absorption of dietary cholesterol and the maintaining of levels of cholesterol and triglycerides, helping to keep both normal.
Further research is needed before specific health benefits can be firmly established.
